Peuneo (Pty) Ltd walks the talk when it comes to skills development and training, with their Managing Director Dineo Stiyana bringing passion to ensure real change is realised.
P
euneo (Pty) Ltd is a Level 1 BEE multisector skills development and training entity, which also provides project management, publishing, and supply services.
Having cut its teeth in the occupational health and safety (OHS) and labour relations fields, Peuneo has grown to service a number of sectors within the public and private spaces, including: power generation, SETAs/education sector, mining, the health sector, including optometry, service sector, manufacturing and engineering, ICT sector, and construction.
At the helm of Peuneo is Managing Director Dineo Stiyana, who is tasked with driving the company’s positioning as a provider of complete, industry-specific solutions.
She believes that the work her teams carry out make a huge difference to their clients, with the general feedback and sentiment positive.
“In my previous occupations as Quality Manager, Project Manager, Training Manager, and General Manager, I was often required to spearhead organisation-wide goals relating to operations optimisation, including quality improvements and waste reduction of different resources, as well as change management. Often, in these delegations, the departments entrusted to me were new. This meant that some of my core deliverables were systems and processes engineering, as well as team establishment and change management, which included the process of culture shifting, often underpinned with skills development,” Stiyana explains.
“The difference following training was truly notable. Here, my passion for skills transfer was born and I am immensely grateful that as a culture, the team at Peuneo carries this passion in all we do. We are fuelled by the constant feedback we receive from our clients when they relate the difference they experience at work after implementing our solutions.”
Their services are all geared to shaping impactful, sector-specific solutions for growth.
“We love reverse-engineering our clients’ goals to tailor the solutions that help achieve the desired outcomes.”
Passion, transformation, and expertise
Peuneo’s training services go beyond skills transfer and drive sustainable change.
This is achieved thanks to the passionate nature in which the entity carries out its business, with Stiyana the driving force behind that passion.
“As the saying goes, ‘Do what you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’ The truth is that passion is also transferable,” she says.
“When the clients see the big picture of implementing training in addition to any solution, and when the classroom delegate sees the same, synergy is ignited and learning becomes widespread and more pleasant. Beginning with the end in mind is key.”
While the passion can be seen in the results, Stiyana is also lucky to have assembled a diverse team whose expertise covers construction, SHERQ, ISO standards, and many more valuable skill sets.
This knowledge base transfers itself into the smooth running of the company, with Stiyana proud that a holistic approach to their solutions and services is possible as a result.
“At Peuneo, we involve the experts in each specific case, including the training interventions we provide. This means that whether we are training or implementing a solution, each service is infused with the relevant expert experience in that field, combined with innovations that inform the way forward.
“The mix of experts in our team allows us a holistic perspective which informs our solutions and services, enriching the outcomes in a wide range of areas.”
When it comes to transformation, Stiyana says that Peuneo is guided by the National Development Plan (NDP), as they feel it is their duty to ensure that opportunities are provided for those who need it most.
“The National Development Plan is a policy that is very close to our hearts here at Peuneo. We continue to see immense positive change in the organisations we serve, as well as in the learners sponsored by these organisations. In reporting on these changes, attempts are often made to measure the difference in the trajectory of the individuals positively affected by our upskilling programmes,” Stiyana insists.
“Still, though it’s estimated that for every single skilled learner, a family of up to 10 could be positively impacted, it is likewise acknowledged that the change is way more far-reaching when the entire community is taken into account. The trickle effect of an individual’s increased employability, to their positive role-modelling capacity and knowledgeable mentoring is immeasurable.”
But the hard work in ensuring the success of transformation is far from over, with Stiyana determined to continue doing her part in taking the country forward.
“Our dream at Peuneo is to continue to play a role in this capacitation plan. And let’s not forget the positive effect on the longevity and sustainable growth of the organisations that we and our graduates gratefully serve,” she adds.
Impactful projects and the future
When pressed for an answer on Peuneo’s most successful projects, Stiyana could not help but rattle off a list—which she admits she could have made even longer.
This is because the success and impact of the company goes far beyond just one or two projects, with its impact felt on a rather large scale.
In terms of the regular feedback Peuneo receives from chief executive officers, directors, managers, and learners alike, she highlighted the following:
Waste yards being used for other needs as waste is drastically reduced, speaking to positive and increased ROI;
Learners who are able to be delegated to multiple functions in the organisation;
Reduction in unrest due to synergy;
Career progression for learners of Peuneo;
• Injuries and non-conformances drastically reduced; and
• Ease of delegation.
“The trickle effect of an individual’s increased employability, to their positive role-modelling capacity and knowledgeable mentoring is immeasurable,” she states.
Looking ahead to the future, Stiyana did not give an answer which spoke to lofty goals and high targets, but rather an answer which reflected consistency and a realisation that what they are doing right now must continue.
“We absolutely enjoy walking the change and growth path with our clients and learners. It will be a pleasure and honour to continue doing this and have the opportunity to do the same for more,” she concludes.
And we wish you all the best as you continue to make your mark on South African communities.
